This position is responsible for the production and service of food in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable health and sanitation regulations and standards. A food service worker is a restaurant employee who does a little bit of everything. One day, they may be asked to help the chef prepare the ingredients for the dinner service. They can then be asked to clean tables or serve customers.
Ultimately, food service workers are responsible for ensuring that every meal a restaurant produces is of the highest quality. The food service station is responsible for maintaining work areas, equipment and kitchen utensils. Some of the main tasks of a food service worker are cleaning the stove for cooks, complying with food safety regulations, helping cooks prepare meals, and creating simple dishes, such as salads. A food service worker may be asked to perform many different tasks depending on the needs of their employer.
A food service worker doesn't need any experience, but a high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
